Octavio - we can't get rid of militant Islam

in response to reader comment: What is the solution then?

We can't get rid of militant Islam short of engaging in a mass indiscrimate slaughter that hopefully we will never have to do.

Only Muslims can get rid of the followers of militant Islam in their midst, if they want to.

What we can do is make them want to.

One way would be to stop further immigration from their countries to ours and then hold the majority muslim countries separate from ourselves and from the benefits that secular society confers. We have the technology, skills and means to produce virtually all the components of the vast array of goods that we and all the peoples of the world want. On the other side, they have a portion, but only a portion, of the oil wealth of the world, a fungible commodity which can be made irrelevant by substitutes if we want to isolate them badly enough.

I submit that we can live without trade of food and technical products a lot easier than they can live without trade of oil.
