Reader comment on item: Those Danish Cartoons and Me
in response to reader comment: What is the solution then?

"We need to get rid of Militant Islam and none of us has come up with any solution."

Ms. Johnson, maybe it's not we who need to get rid of militant Islam .. I think it's the job of Moderate Muslims (who have become as impossible to locate as Osama bin Ladin!) We can help by backing up any moderates who appear .. especially if our elected officials stop enabling the terror-mongers and the ignoramuses (and also the fearfully compromised) by refusing to speak truthfully about the problems with Islam. We can back up moderates throughout Islam by speaking the truth -- and very importantly -- by demanding our govt. representatives speak truthfully .. followed by appropriate actions. Those actions would depend upon the circumstances (i.e. war in Iraq and Afghanistan, NO money to Hamas .. or Egypt .. No "protection rackets" period) At all times, our representatives in Government need to speak truthfully about what's wrong with Islam.

Apologies, Ms. Johnson .. I've an idea you're not American ... but I'm providing an example from the USA. Can you imagine the FBI trying to enforce the RICO Act by pretending the Mafia was just a misunderstood group of Italian guys who just liked to hang out in clubs and make pasta? How many decent Italian people (and others) would have felt confident to come forward and cooperate with the authorities against the Mafia if the authorities refused to admit the evil entanglement of the Mafia within the lives of more ordinary and productive (and also heavily compromised) citizens the Mafia preyed upon? It's not enough to talk about 'extremist Muslims ... the Moderates must be named as co-enactors of "radical" Islam ... just as surely as those who bought into Mafia 'protection rackets' were complicit in keeping the Mafia going .. even as they were held hostage to the system they co-created with their fear.

Notice what happened in Denmark when substantial Governing leaders FINALLY put their foot down and refused to tolerate the intolerable .. and named the intolerable by name: 700 moderate Muslims came out and marched in solidarity with Denmark. Unprecedented march due to unprecedented outspokenness by leadership.

Ms. Johnson, perhaps you can explain to me how it is that what's obvious to most ordinary Mothers evades our govt. leaders so completely? Don't give bullies your lunch money ... not once .. not ever !
