You have done great work on conspiracy theories Mr. Pipes, but what about the history of successful conspiracies? Why else would we have laws against them?

You are right, conspiracy theories must be addressed, and debated, and one of our governments and media's persistent mistakes is to suppress this debate. Everyone deserves a nationally televised debate between the leading conspiracy theory mongers and some possible oponents. And it is suppresed, just as your presenece on the mainstream media was for many years!

As for your mention of anti-semitism. Is it any wonder that conspiracy theories about jews persist, when they cannot be publicly debated? When the very mention that Jews may have more influence than others leads to the dismissal of people and prominent non-Jewish politicians have to appologize for seemingly benign, but politically-incorrect comments?

Holocaust Denial should be decriminalized, and the likes of David Irving be debated on national television. He doesn't have a leg to stand on, and it would be great to finally show it in a public debate. Do you think he could stand for a second? His whole case would be laid to waste in five minutes!

So by not taking conspiracies head on, we are in fact breeding them. This leads to the best conspiracy theory of all, that our government might not care, because a supersticious people are a stupid people, and such a people succumb to easy manipulation.
