Muslims and why I re-think constantly

Reader comment on item: Identifying Islamists through Interrogations

Submitted by Albert (United States), Jan 14, 2016 at 22:49

The word Islamist gathers attention and opens dialogue within the church.
I have a J_C background. When 9-11 occurred. I was driving over the Verrazano bridge.
With me were three colleagues that car pooled everyday to work. One of them is a long
time flying enthusiast out of linden N.J. On that day He pointed out a plane flying out
of what he knows as the normal flight pattern for New York. We thought nothing of it until
we walked into the computer center where we worked underground. Techs were watching
the displays in the head end with unbelief, I asked whats goin on, when the second plane
hit as i watched. Suffice it to say I knew.

By the time I made the decision to leave work which was 40 minutes later, Wall to wall people
had started their trek home walking over the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, thousands, walking
right up Flatbush ave, Tillary, Jay streets not an avenue was empty.

The reason why I shared what I experienced is, I never have until now.
Fast forward to now. I attend a non denominational church in the 5 boro;s of New York
faithfully since 2008. Our church had guest speakers come in and speak on their
conversion from Islam to Christianity thirty five years ago. As I sat and listened to
these two men one Egyptian the other Iranian spoke words that I had not wanted to
hear.

They broke down in simple terminology why they converted. The unreal part is,
being a believer, follower, I found the next sentences the most freeing and why I was at
this meeting on that day.

The Egyptian Gentlemen explained that Muslims are like Catholics using an analogy or
Parable have you, on why in America, some Catholics go to church, tithe and pray, then
you have those who attend every other year if that. Some believe some wonder why they
attend church. Others associate, align as Christian, peacefully. Muslims around the
world are similar they work, vacation and do the same thing as Catholics but are
Muslim and seek.

When These two gentleman finished I was aware and released from my ideologies about a
people that are called Muslim.

I would continue with the above epiphany, however Daniel Pipes stepped into the fray.

When I read your 1994 published piece recently, on Islamic Fundamentalists are the New
Big Threat to the West, It all came together and I knew why that day, I met two converted Muslims.

One, to help me forgive, two, help me not to forget, in anger.

I happened upon your site in the 90's and by the year 2000 read about Islam and found
the 32 page writing which 16 pages are in English on:

An Explanatory Memorandum On the Strategic Goal for the Group in North America
5/22/1991. Very disturbing, the groups involved and the pledges.

Thank you Mr. Pipes for your time and efforts in the world.

Albert.
