You might want to check out a very interesting book called "What the Modern Martyr Should Know". It also deals with "The hidden origins of Islam", although giving a slightly different version than your own. It is very interesting and very enlightening. It opened my eyes and I completely believe its claim to the effect that real, honest research on "The hidden origins (and history!) of Islam" has only barely just begun. Right now, in my opinion, anxiety about and lust for Oil is holding back most such honest assessments. And it is also very significant that the Saudis are reported to be literally covering up and even destroying every bit of actual archeological evidence that they can get their hands on.
