Reader comment on item: Twenty Years of Illusion about Islamism
in response to reader comment: Sharia, two examples.

Even so, Sharia makes the testimony of a Dhimmi worth only one half that of a Muslim. Further, in Hosain v. Malik, decided not too long ago in Maryland, the interests of Sharia (as practiced in the wonderful land of Pakistan), trumped the "best interests of the child" standard in a custody case.

In New Jersey, there was an especially horrible case (thankfully, overturned by a higher court), where a Moroccan immigrant woman in the process of filing for divorce was told she had to submit to her increasingly estranged husband's desire for sex because it was the law in the jurisdiction where the marriage was contracted (Morocco--influenced by Sharia). Now, I'm not a friend of the feminist movement, but that even a judge in a court of original jurisdiction making such a decision to seem "liberal" and "open" to the latest fad is just too much.
