Sharia, two examples.

This guy's comment is fair and accurate. It's fair to say you want a looser world than the one he's describing, and in truth, most Muslim countries are looser. You guys should learn what Sharia is, but it comes from the consent of the governed. And, Sharia is no threat until you have over 50% Muslims in the US. Even then, I suspect many Muslims are like people of all faiths, and kinda sorry, and like a drink, and other vices. So, I suspect, there would be no threat of Sharia taking control of this country until 75% of the population were Muslim.

In fact, in many Muslim countries prostitution IS legal, and policed. The police are NOT intrusive of your privacy as they are increasingly here. Even in Saudi Arabia, there is an attitude that what goes on behind closed doors, is no body's business.

You talk about Sharia, here's an iconic case under Sharia. There's a story under the 3rd Caliph, of a man who came to Omar and quite excited, reported on catching a couple who were not married, having sex. He said he was walking down the street, heard heavy breathing and peeked over the wall and saw the proof. Omar dismissed him, saying you should have put your cloak over them.

In Sharia, the police are not permitted to spy to discover these affairs. Though the pregnancy of a woman can be proof of fornication, under Sharia, only witness of Organs entering organs is supposed to constitute proof, and even that must have 4 witnesses. This is a prohibition against pornography, not premarital sex. I'm not saying some backward countries, in their back waters, don't rule differently. But, our own system does this. Usually these wrongs are corrected on appeal.

IF you're concerned about Sharia, you'd do well to actually learn about it. Learn about the more liberal traditions, and challenge them to liberalize. Once we've maxed out Islam, if you still find them wanting, then you can challenge the faith. As it is, you're arguing against a strawman, which is a logical fallacy. TO continue to do it, after you know better, is nothing but sophistry, and deceit.
