in response to reader comment: Was Aisha 9 years old when she got married?

Volume 7, Book 62, Number 18:

Narrated 'Ursa:

The Prophet asked Abu Bakr for 'Aisha's hand in marriage. Abu Bakr said "But I am your brother." The Prophet said, "You are my brother in Allah's religion and His Book, but she (Aisha) is lawful for me to marry."

Obviously her Dad was not overjoyed at the old man marrying his child.

From Bukhari vol. 7, #65:
"Narrated Aisha that the prophet wrote the marriage contract with her
when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine
years old. Hisham said: "I have been informed that Aisha remained with the
prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death).""

Bukhari vol. 7, #88:
"Narrated Urwa: "The prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha
while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she
was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his
death).""

Bukhari vol. 5, #234 says:
"Narrated Aisha: The prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six. We
went to Medina and stayed at the home of Harith Kharzraj. Then I got ill and
my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman,
came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She
called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She
caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was
breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water
and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There
in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah's
blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared
me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah's messenger came to me in the
forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of
nine years of age."

FROM THE HADITH OF THE SUNAN OF ABU DAWUD

From Abu Dawud, Vol. 2, #2116:

"Aisha said, "The Apostle of Allah married me when I was seven years
old." (The narrator Sulaiman said: "Or six years."). "He had intercourse
with me when I was 9 years old."

From Tabari, volume 7, page7:

"....My marriage (to Muhammad) was consummated when I was nine....."

From Tabari, volume 9, page 131

"Then the men and women got up and left. The Messenger of God
consummated his marriage with me in my house when I was nine years old.
Neither a camel nor a sheep was slaughtered on behalf of me"......(The
Prophet) married her three years before the Emigration, when she was seven
years old and consummated the marriage when she was nine years old, after he
had emigrated to Medina in Shawwal. She was eighteen years old when he died.

These all are pretty specific, none seem to be referring to an adult woman, or do adult women play with dolls? Then, as opposed to your cut and paste from the web, are you too ignorant to work out this for yourself?

Well lets see what is agreed,

Did Aisha die in 678CE?

Was she married to Mohammed for 9 years?

Did he marry her in 623/4CE?

Did Mohammed die in 632CE

Are we agreed so far? therefore she was widowed for 46/7 years

and it was 55/6 years from when she was married until she died.

Now lets see how old Aisha was when she died with your your calculations.

Your cut n pasted proof 1

You are citing numerous commentators objecting to these ISLAMIC TEXTS say she was 9 years old.

However, the fact that they still exist and that they are part of the Muslim texts proved that the critics like you were not accepted, if they were correct, theses texts would of been discarded.

Therefore these are not unreliable due to the fact they exist. If they were considered unreliable by some Muslims and were objected to, obviously these objections were considered weak, just like your first proof.

Your cut n pasted proof 2

This would of made her born 610CE and made her 68/9 years old at death

Your cut n pasted Proof 3

You say she was 17 or 18 at marriage? That means she was 73/4 when she died

Your proof 4

she was 14 to 21 at marriage, that means she was 69 years of age to 76 years of age. I also note there is a wide spread of ages and with a plus or minus range of 33% obviously this cannot be reliable.

Your Proof 5

If you claim one reference to a Arabic term meaning she was a young woman, how do you reconcile that there are numerous references to her playing with dolls? I think it is more credible someone saying she was playing with dolls a more reliable reference, than someone calling a girl a young woman when you are trying to gauge her age.

Considering none of your "proofs" correspond to the age given at her death, I think that you need to find better evidence.

You claim to be an authority on Islam and we all do not understand. I think you have proved you do not have a clue what you are talking about and only recite the Islamic propaganda that has been deposited on the web by Muslims trying to confuse and hide the truth, embarrased that their perfect man was a child molester.
