"A Moroccan, A Turk, A Pakistani, and an Indonesian are all Muslims and share the same faith, but their culture is as far from each other than a Christian swede is from a Christian Brazilian."

This view fails to take into account the rise of Wahabi based Islam in what were termed more moderate Muslim countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia. As far as Turkey is concerned, the current situation reflects a move towards the Wahabi interpretation of Islam.
