Israel's Right of Defense

Reader comment on item: "Free Gaza" Flotilla Defeats the Israel Defense Forces

Your comments about Israeli strategy were unrealistic, ... : e.g. "... a powerful state never physically harms, even inadvertently, its rag-tag political adversaries." My question to you is at what point did Hamas and other terrorists become Israel's "political adversaries" The declared purpose to destroy Israel and all Jews is not a political objective. Israel is fighting for its very existence, and in my opinion the alleged world outrage on whatever Israel does to protect itself is no more than veiled anti-Semitism. Where is the world's outrage over the thousands of rockets hitting Israel? Likewise, the world's concern over nuclear weapons in Iran is at about the level of a delayed flight to Bermuda.

Israel has sacrificed its strategies and armed forces in an attempt to gain approval for its own neccessay defense. The sacrifice has proven useless. If a change in strategy is necessary it's a change that allows Israel to do whatever is necessary to defend itself. If that means sinking a boatload of "unarmed" terrorists, so be it.
