But you must understand that faithful extremist followers of Islam might be avoiding to have dogs in general, similar with not eating porc.

Both actions could harm those species.

I don't think there is a passage in the Q'uran that mentions that rats aren't inpure.While you do find this about dogs.

When ever all people become Muslim, the use for pigs will be no more as none eat their meat. So they won't be kept as pets, neither bred for nourishment so they probably would become extinct?

(The local zoo wanting to remain pure for it's visitors would not be keeping them as well)

Similar scenario could be applicable for dogs. Do you think it was Mohammeds wish to make these animals extinct and then the bigger question, WHY?
