Freedom comes with responsibilities

Reader comment on item: Destroying Sculptures of Muhammad
in response to reader comment: So-called double standard

I do believe in the freedom of expression, yet I do not agree on using swear words in songs, articles …etc. I do not agree on pornography as a form of art.

It is unrealistic of a anyone's part to expect no consequences on his/her actions if he/she is going to insult someone's believes. Won't any of you feel hurt, insulted, and even outraged if someone pictured a member of your family as a criminal or even worse?

Mohammed to Moslems is dearer and more precious than anyone who had ever existed or will exist on the face of the planet.

I do agree on the fact that the reaction to that outraging insult should not be a violent one. But what really ticks me off is how the westerns do not understand the way we fell, nor respect our felling and keep on insisting on their right of freedom!!!

A Moslem will never ever insult Jesus. You know why?, because we respect Gesus and we believe he is a prophet of God and because Islam instruct us to speak only when we have a good thing to say. The hadeth says: if you believe in God and the day of judgment say kind words or hold your mouth.

To sum, there is no question that these pictures are outraging. The insensitivity from the westerns part is even more outraging (at least for me), yet the way I believe Muslims should handle this situation is thru rational open dialog.

P.S: shari'a is collection of rules and practices that any Moslem should follow. So non Moslems are not required to practice shari'a the same way they are not required to fast during Ramadan. I really do not understand where you go the idea that Moslem men are trying to force shari'a!
