in response to reader comment: Ahmad, we are happy to remain non-thinking mammals, instead of becoming thinking Muslims.

I will try to give you a detailed response after my exams. However, I cannot let some points you made pass without responding to them today!

you said:

I suggest you wait for your exam to get over and give readers here your considered reply. To keep the discussion moving let me ask you a few questions. Allah calling his own creation, the unbelievers, the ‘worst of beasts and lowest creatures' means he despises them after having created them knowing well in advance that they would be unbelievers. Do you think even a human with his lowly intelligence would do such a stupid thing i.e. create something that would rebel against him? Isn't this something you would expect of as you say of a ‘non-thinking mammal'?

This comes down how you understand the principle of good deeds and reward.Muslims beleivie that if you are good person and do good deads you will go to heaven-god, willing. If you do bad, it makes sense that god will not send you to heaven! God is all knowing and so if he decides to call those who do not observe his laws and do good deeds some name and compare them to animals.I think he is entitled to do so.He is also encourages them to think about his creation. He also threatens them in other suras.Look god ultimately knows his creation better than we do(if you beleive in god).He knows that some people respond better to encouragment, others be reminding them about paradise and hell, others by reason(common sense)...etc. We humans do this daily in our lives!

I will respond to the rest at a later date.

take care,
