Tribalism and Judeo-Christianity

Reader comment on item: The Middle East's Tribal Affliction

Submitted by Richard B. (Canada), Jan 24, 2008 at 22:53

So long as the pre-eminence of Islam remains unchallenged in the ME, do not expect to see positive changes in the near future. Call it political correctness, call it the 'Pink Elephant in the Room', call it what you like, Islam retards all manner of progress, period. Push Judeo-Christian principles aside and tribalism is the natural result. No Golden Rule of loving your neighbor. No confession of the sins of yourself and your tribe. All that forgiveness stuff applies only to members of your own family, clan and tribe.

The man next to you is your brother? 'Not for us!', the Muslims say. Don't expect Western academics and politicians to launch a vigorous defence of Jewish ethics and a Christian faith for a ME audience any time soon. Not gonna happen. Count on it.
