Hi,
I've been researching medicine and religion for some time now (studying for a PhD in law and religion, and laws relating to the healthcare setting come up frequently) and just thought I'd let you know what Islamic law says. Islamic law does forbid violation of the body whilst either living or dead, but there are two instances when this can be overruled.

Firstly, in cases of necessity ("necessity overrides prohibition") and secondly where it will save life. So you see, Islam does not forbid organ donation, and is in fact strongly supported by the Muslim Council of Britain (many people of whom I have regular contact with). Hope this helps!
