Sorry to say this but the moderate Muslims are not moderate when it comes to Islam.

You are very correct.

However, there are indeed very enlightened and nominal Muslims in places like Egypt and Iraq of all places, but try and ask questions and you will get no where

But this does not stop many Egyptians from asking questions and challenging every thing including the tendentious history of early Islam in Egypt and for this check Sayed el-Qemni

http://quemny.blog.com/

And in regard to the Muslim Brotherhood and its crimes check Ibarhim Eissa and Wael el-Abrashi on youtube

Also check http://www.ahewar.org/debat/nr.asp or el-hewar el-mutamaden and in this site Arabic speakers debate just about every thing Islam included

And here is an interesting article from the site about the myth that Islam is compatible with democarcy and secularism

http://www.ahewar.org/debat/show.art.asp?aid=183418

And in response to such attacks by secularists the Muslim Brotherhood had to answer and you guessed it that Islam is really compatible with democracy

http://www.ikhwanwiki.com/index.php?title=%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A5%D8%AE%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%86_%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B3%D9%84%D9%85%D9%88%D9%86_%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%8A%D9%85%D9%82%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%B7%D9%8A%D8%A9

There is no doubt in my mind that many Arabic speaking Muslims are asking questions and are not getting answers or the answers that they get do no make sense and for this google "Islam and breast feeding of the adult" and you will be surprised

A few years ago being a sheikh in places like Egypt was a big deal now everything they utter is questioned and for this google "Sheikh Asm abd el-Maged" He is a terrorist but just read the ridicule and attacks that he gets when ever he says just about any thing

I think in England you are dealing with a very skewed Muslim population and that is the Pakistani and Indian Muslims that have a very different culture from the culture of let us say Egypt or the Levant or Iraq and I suspect Pakistanis and Indian Muslims try to compensate for the fact that they realize that Islam is really a religion of the Arabs only and that one must know Arabic so they become more Arabs than the Arabs themselves
