Ditch The Onion, Try Scrappleface.comReader comment on item: A Strongman for Iraq? Submitted by John Hadjisky (United States), Apr 29, 2003 at 21:11 Much as I enjoy a bit of light-heated humor, and as much as I think Dr. Pipes' serious treatment of serious topics will benefit from a bit of humor, I must point out that The Onion, while still funny, has become increasingly decreasingly funny of late. It may have to do with The Vegetable's recent tendency, now that the Iraq war is mostly over, to publish a rather monotonous string of cynical humor pieces making fun of the war movement and the nation-building effort, while pointedly ignoring the vast potential for cynical humor making fun of the anti-war, or now the apparently pro-Iraqi anarchy movement. Oddly, before the war, The Onion seemed to be more of an equal opportunity cynic. For a refreshing balance to The Onion, consider Scrappleface.com, which is *hilarious*, at least to my taste. Perhaps the two could merge.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
