The liberal bias in academia is a natural extension of the bias towards intelligence in academia. Open minds are better at learning, and so open-minded people are prevalent towards the upper echelons of our educational systems.

As non-scientific subjects like Intelligent Design are forced into curricula, this preponderance of knowledge will subside. If you can't wait that long, I'm sure if you limit your research to religious institutions, you'll find the reality you desire.
