The purpose of terror

Reader comment on item: The Snipers: Crazy or Jihadis?

Submitted by Michael Triska (Australia), Oct 29, 2002 at 22:05

Sir
Its always amazing to see how people prefer to believe that killers are misguided for social or other reasons than simply killing people. As V.I.Lenin said the ' Purpose of terror is to terrorise ". And so they do .

As you suggested, we may think of this situation as a war between communism/fascism or perhaps East/West . Either way there are plenty of people in this world who like to turn a blind eye to reality .

Let's just hope that they wake up very quickly !
