Nation of Islam vs. Islam

Reader comment on item: The Snipers: Crazy or Jihadis?

Submitted by Gunnar Gunderson (United States), Oct 29, 2002 at 21:29

The Nation of Islam and Islam are very different - different beliefs, agenda. Actual Muslims do not consider members of the Nation of Islam as Muslims. Yet this article doesn't make this distinction clear.

Generally, I like to read Pipes' articles to see his side of the story - he is very well informed. But, in this case at least, the blurring of this distinction can be misleading.

735 words does not allow for a full discussion of all issues. For my views on the NoI-normative Islamic connection, see http://www.danielpipes.org/article/167 and http://www.danielpipes.org/article/341.
