And so history repeats itself

Reader comment on item: Why Revoke Tariq Ramadan's U.S. Visa?

Submitted by Jamz (Canada), Dec 21, 2004 at 23:34

Hmm, how do I start this...not only is the American government hurting itself and its citizens by being hypocritical, but it is showing once again, that it was not for the safety of the Americans that the plea came through, but rather from pressures to keep the "in land security". In an effort to keep its people ignorant, this visa gimmick was not the top of the line news on CNN.

America defends "Democracy" in Afghanistan, in Iraq, but when it comes to the GREAT and POWERFUL country of America, not everyone is allowed to speak their mind. America's people is geared towards one way of seeing things. What is a terrorist? An Arab or a Muslim of any kind. The crackdown of terrorism around the world has started, yet terrorist groups such as the KKK or the Black Panthers still live on in this so called " Anti-Terrorist" nation, this nation that is at the head of the war on Terrorism.

And so history repeat itself....Americans will reap what they sow..hopefully what they preach will eventually be what they practice. The most important is the right to free speech...a right they have revoked from Mr. Ramadan, and the right to learn that they have revoked from the students of Notre Dame.
