Reader comment on item: Why Revoke Tariq Ramadan's U.S. Visa?
in response to reader comment: ACLU, TOO

I really cannot understand the arguments (if there are any) put forward by those who see in Tariq Ramadan a dangerous element, a person to be watched. I am however not so surprised, in the world we live in, where falsfehood became truth and the power of media distorting information is so overwhelming.

What i am disappointed with most is that the kind of nonesense comes from highly academics who are supposed to lead the way for a possible understanding between civilisations rather that fuel the masses with more reasons for hatred and distrust. The fear of the other (as ramdan wrote in one of his papers) is the cause of all what we are witnessing at the moment.

What matters at the end is what Dr. Ramdan preaches to the masses (general public as well as academics), and i haven't seen in his line of thought any kind of rigidness or extremism. In fact, it is the opposite..This attitude has earned him the enmity of a large number of radical muslim groups.

So, let's be honest, if we want to build a better future, i think it would make a lot of sense to start changing our outlook at things.
