Bonus: tossing away freedom of expression and association gives "them" less reason to hate us

Reader comment on item: Why Revoke Tariq Ramadan's U.S. Visa?

Submitted by Konrad Aderer (United States), Oct 6, 2004 at 13:00

Am I to read Mr. Pipes as endorsing the free exercise of guilt-by-association until the "War on Terror" is over?

It seems in these and other writings designed to paint individual Muslims as dangerous, people like Michelle Malkin and Mr. Pipes feel there is no need to specify how a Muslim is a threat or even make an informed guess as to what they might be planning that would cause harm. It's enough to throw out a series of dangerous views and suspicious personal associations, and then not even prove them.

Daniel Pipes replies:

You are right to read that I am trying to figure out how to protect my country from those on the enemy side of the war against it.
