The inquisition lasted for a 1000 years where christians invented the most abominable kinds of instruments of torture one could find anywhere else in the world. On the other hand, the muslims were relatively tolerant of other faiths, so much so, that 10% of the population in the middle east is still orthodox christian from 2000 years ago. They would have been wiped out, if they lived in catholic europe during the inquisition.
