Reader comment on item: Strange Sex Stories from the Muslim World

Submitted by Miriana (Lebanon), Oct 14, 2010 at 13:15

I just wanted to say something that these cases you are talking about are very rare. Second, forced marriage is happening but only in countries like Afghanestan. I live in lebanon and till now my parents do not want me to get married and so are many of my friends. Arabs are not the way to picture them. You only included special cases that occure more in your countries. If we contrast the percentage of rape between your countries and our u will find the your country has exceeded it. Moreover, today all arabs femals and males are studying and are having major roles. We are rulling and have a word.

At least our country tries to give the girl her honor. Instead of having 13 times or more sex before getting married, we remain vergins and not touched but by our husbands. We as arabs have respect for family, and we appreciate family bonds. We do not wait until 18 and then flee from our home leaving our parents. In addition, we have mistakes, but i think you missed to mention the serial killers US faced , the child abusers and women rapers. Arab boys have respect for women. They treat her with respect and honor her.

I really insist that you mention the disadvantages and the advantages of the muslims because you now that the Qu'ran is a book sent by God like the bibel and tawrat. By the way, in the Qu'ran it is mentioned that no girl should be married by force, and no girl should be beaten nor sex forced nor being married before she is physically mature. We have rules, and I think that you should get to know the culture very well before speaking of its disadvantages. You I can mention more disadvantages of your culture more than you can ever mention of our. So, be precise and think of what i have said. Thanks
