Disappointingly, D. Pipes says islamism and islam are not the same. I absolutely disagree. Due to the restricted space here I am only going to quote R. Erdogan, the Turkish Prime Minister and member of a "mildly" (according to the media) islamistic party:

"The Term 'Moderate Islam' Is Ugly And Offensive; There Is No Moderate Islam; Islam Is Islam"

... Muslims have to follow the koran which IS god's word (unlike the bible). Mohammed stated himself that the koran is easy to read and understand and that there is NO room for interpretation as it's god's word. No muslim would ever dare not to follow god's own written rules. Islamists just do what the koran tells them to, like spreading islam and establishing a global caliphate.
