Reader comment on item: Americans Wake Up to Islamism

Submitted by james drake (United States), Sep 7, 2010 at 23:39

I would like to know what Dr. Pipes thinks of the book The Closing of the Muslim Mind, which is reviewed at NRO recently. According to the review Islam went off the rails back in the 9th century. How long will it take for the moderates to be willing to take on the Islamists?

Daniel Pipes replies:

I have not read the book, so I cannot comment on it.

That said, I am skeptical of an explanation that attributes today's problems to developments over a millennium ago, as though there were not many chances to fix things subsequently.
