why they do not accept Israel

Reader comment on item: Accepting Israel as the Jewish State[: Public Opinion in Four Arab Countries]
in response to reader comment: Mutuality

The Palestinians do not accept Israel because that is what they were told at school and by their parents. In a way this is a source of their identity. The arab-speaking world goes along with this and even the west show cristicism of Israel on every occasion. As a consequence not accepting Israel is perfectly normal. On the political level opposing Israel is a source of political power an support. Again, even the west finds it more interesting to talk to Israel's enemies. In order for a single individual to accept Israel there is no motivation. Someone needs to come up with an answer to the question why should a Palestinian, out of all people, accept Israel, out of all countries. If I had to answer to a Palestininian I would say, you could accept Israel out of hospitality towards your neighbours and because maybe you feel that you are more clever than the other arabs in the area.
