More Response to Mr. Tovey

Reader comment on item: Accepting Israel as the Jewish State[: Public Opinion in Four Arab Countries]
in response to reader comment: To Repeat that Which is Not Understood About Being Jewish

Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Jun 3, 2010 at 04:47

Hi Mr Tovey,

From your very lengthy post reagrding my questions , I can gather the following points :

1. The Jewish people have a god given right to Salvation and Jerusalem since they have an original covenant between them and God. (Reference : Old-testament or "hebrew holy bible")

2. The "Goyim" or "Gentile" people (hateful racist remark about any non-jew) can have salvation or Jerusalem only through accepting Jesus Christ personally as his saviour. (Reference : New-testament or "Christian bible")

3. it is difficult to apply who is a Jew and who is a "goyim" since it is not clear from the scriptures whether the term "Jewishness" means an ethnic term or a religious term.

Kindly tell me if I am correct in my above understandings.

If I am correct then kindly answer my following questions :

1. Muslims are by both old and new testaments following your plan for salvation. Firstly kindly go through Sharia law . This is just as same as Mosaic and Noaid law. So Muslims should be liable to salvation and "Jrusalem" on that count.

2. Muslims are OK as per as new testament also since Muslims love and revere Jesus Christ and urdently follow his teachings. So in a sense Muslims are following what I call double covenant.

3. The question remains that when Jews and Christians come to Islam do they still continue with their covenants i.e. if a Jew can retain his Jewishness when he comes to Islam. Same if a Christian comes to Islam should he also be able retain his type of covenant. If not then kindly tell me why ?
