Reader comment on item: The Alawi Capture of Power in Syria

Submitted by The Truth (Australia), May 9, 2010 at 21:41

From an educated Alawi woman in response to this article, it is very interesting, the political explanation of the rise of Alawi power in Syria seems to omit the suffering enforced by the French rule over the country and the corrupt people they employed to rule over the good people of Syria regardless pf their religious background. Al-Asad brought an overhaul of these governments over the most vulnerable of people and brought the hope and prosperity back to the country. The fact that he became president was due to his commitment and honesty to the people. He is only hated due to his religious beliefs ...

We are first and foremost Muslim. We pray, fast, give to the poor, go to Hajj and defend our religion. We bear witness that there is no God but Allah, and Mohammed (A.S) is his prophet but we add that Ali (A.S) is his imam and Caliph who continued to teach the religion. We are peaceful and tolerant of all religions but we differ from other sects of Islam by keeping our religious worship to ourselves. God is our judge.
