I believe that the alawi's represent the peace and tolerant side of islm, and you won't see A REAL ALAWI making a terrorist operation against civilians.
I would like to say that the alawi's occupy an imporant position in the syrian government, army, cultural and educational life, not because a plan they have put.The principal reasons to their new situation are all about the very bad historical and social conditions they have experienced .As the writer said the alawi's in syria"till the1950s" were so poor , that they had to either work in agriculture,or join the army. The next few generations of the syrian alawi's could study at the state universities where they got high degrees made them, by that time, able to occupy such position in society.
