Almost correct informationReader comment on item: The Alawi Capture of Power in Syria Submitted by Ragnarok (Syrian Arab Republic), May 5, 2009 at 17:47 i agree that alawits have some false beliefs, but that doesn't make them infidel, because they believe in God and in the prophet Mohammed pbuh, but their belief is that Ali binAbi Taleb, who's the cousin of prophet Mohammed is a soldier sent by God to help prophet Mohammed in his religion spreading and holy war however some believe that he's the God himself-which is agreed by all to be a false belief- and modern alawites decline such follyness, they also order the young man who's about to begin his religion education to drink wine, to allow the sheikh "priest" to see if that man has an evil soul , which is not accepted by most muslims. i think more recitation of the situation is needed before judging, that ye may not misjudge others NOTE: i'm from an alawite family, however i'm sane -i hope- and i can't be a crammer or blindly led Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
