There was such a cataclysm

Reader comment on item: Why Would Anyone Want to Blow Up Times Square?

It was called 9/11. But for the corrupt media and most democrats and too many republicans, every day is still 9/10. But I don't know anyone that actually believes this sort of obfuscation. It is obvious to everyone I know that the most likely explanation is jihad. While I suppose there might turn out to have been some other motive, that would be pretty much irrelevant to the fact that attacks of this sort principally emanate from muslim extremists. If such are to be prevented, that is where the efforts must be directed. I do find it fascinating and simultaneously incomprehensible that Bloomberg would speculate on a connection to domestic political discontent. Such motives almost invariably result in highly specific targeting, not wholesale random mayhem and murder.

Think about the OK City bombing, or the more recent aircraft attack on that IRS office. Both were perpetrated by American antigovernment extremists, and both were specifically targeted against government buildings. Even the Unabomber was more specific than your average jihadi. Jihadis typically hate Americans, generally. The others had more specific enemies in mind; fortunately they are also fewer in number. The patterns are completely different.
