Reader comment on item: Why Would Anyone Want to Blow Up Times Square?

Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), May 5, 2010 at 19:36

It's shockingly naive that so-called intelligent people and authorities are pretending not to understand why this man Shahzad wanted to blow up TImes Square. Mental instability or the fact that his house was in foreclosure don't enter into it----he just wanted to blow up an American icon. He is an Islamic jihadist and is proud of it. He admitted to five months of training for bomb making in Pakistan.

True, most Muslims do not want to destroy the US or any other Western country, but unfortunately it's about time to face the facts that there are some real loonies in that religion who do wish to destroy America, and enforce Shari'a, creating a world-wide caliphate. I am ashamed of Mayor Bloomberg for making such a stupid statement---political correctness has proven to be a real and present danger to the world.
