How shall an Islamicized America be realized?

Reader comment on item: Replacing the U.S. Constitution with the Koran

Submitted by Peter Herz (United States), Jul 29, 2009 at 17:47

That Muslims want an Islamicized America is understandable. As a Christian, I want a Christianized America (and world). Toyohiko Kagawa, the saintly Japanese pastor who wanted to avert war between his country and the USA on the eve of WWII, wanted a Christianized Japan, despite belonging to an extremely small minority. As a Clvinistic American Christian with some awareness of the genealogy of our Constitution in British and other European history, I realize that I may have half or even two-thirds of my proverbial loaf (no absolute monarchy, the political supremacy of law at least in theory, and political compact); but I still feel obliged to pray that the Almighty grant us the whole loaf.

The catch is that the general Evangelical strategy is preaching, prayer, persuasion, and ethical example--not all of which are done well, admittedly. The proof text is in Paul's Corinthian letters, in which he declares the weapons of our warfare to be spiritual rather than carnal.

With Islam, however, the jihad (historically understood as a VIOLENT struggle), is a pillar of the faith. Further, if the Old and New Testaments offer guidance on living under this world's kingdoms from Babylon through Pagan Rome and praying for their peace (cf. Jeremiah's instructions to the Jewish exiles--it's part of Christian Scripture, too), Islam is openly supremicist, imposing political inferiority and extra taxes on non-Muslims under its rule. Hence, while I wince at book-burnings, mass deportations, and targeting people on the grounds of group identity, Islamic advocacy groups give me the willies--especially when our political elites tend to ignore the inconvenient facts of Islamic theology or harp on moral equivalencies in order to be politically correct.
