Reader comment on item: Replacing the U.S. Constitution with the Koran

Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Jul 24, 2009 at 10:06

Many people were not aware of the aforementioned conference that took place in Oak Lawn, Illinois---a town just half an hour from my little town. Most people I spoke to either looked amazed when they found out exactly what the conference was about, or looked incredulously at me and exclaimed, "You're joking!" And many others simply turned away and changed the subject; if something doesn't affect their own little worlds, then it is tossed away as so much rubbish.

How can anything be done to stop such dangerous voices as the "Fall of Capitalism and Rise of Islam" conferences if no one in this country is really concerned? There should be total outrage at any group trying to replace our Constitution with their own sick brand of Islam and Shari'a and yet it seems that the public is determined to pretend nothing is happening. Turning a blind eye to Shari'a is not going to make it go away, there should be laws against anyone preaching such treason in our country.

The lawmakers of this country had better step up their studies and get to work to stop any further conferences of this type. Freedom of speech shouldn't include the freedom to bash our own laws in such a blatantly cavalier manner. Let's see our senators and other DC bigwigs do something about this.
