Removing the mullahs won't save us.

Reader comment on item: A Call for American Boldness in Iran
in response to reader comment: It's not our call or is it?

Only one thing can prevent a Muslim dirty bomb from exploding in my neighborhood - the end of all Muslim travel to the US and the removal of foreign-born Muslims from the US - and such extreme measures will never be implemented.

The mullahs have to go but we don't have the ability to get rid of them. Only the Iranian people can do that. The mullahs will exist as long as Islam exists. Who is willing to get rid of Islam?

We can't save others from themselves but we can save ourselves from them. The problem is we are too politically correct. The people who have more to fear from Iran are in Europe. They are also too politically correct to go against this regime. It's easier to blame the US for "provoking" Iran, starting with the "axis of evil". The Europeans were invited to take the lead in stopping the Iranian nuclear program. They've been ineffective, to say the least. Russia and China are aiding Iran. Maybe if we told the rest of the world to get lost we might be able to go into Iran but that won't happen either. We're too vested in internationalism.

If your goal is to eliminate Iran's nuclear program then it's not enough to topple the mullahs. How do you stop the Iranian nuclear program without first neutralizing the Iranian nuclear engineers? You can't destroy knowledge. That genie is out of the bottle. The Iranians love their nuclear program.
