Reader comment on item: No Islamic Law in Minnesota, for Now

Submitted by Matt Coryell (United States), Oct 26, 2006 at 09:16

Just a thought;

I know this situation with the Muslim Cabby's is really not any concern of us Orlando'ians, but we have Orlando International Airport, many, many cabs and probably won't be too long until we are faced with the same kind of issue.

Has anyone addressed the "law of unintended consequences," which could come into play here. Muslims want to avoid the penalty of going to the back of the line if they refuse a passenger so they ask for a special designation on their cab ... ... ok, that doesn't seem like a big deal, but what if the passengers decide they don't want to ride in a cab with a muslim driver? Would this be equally recognized, respected and embraced? I suspect non-muslim drivers would probably love that idea.
