Picking up women passengers against Islam

Reader comment on item: No Islamic Law in Minnesota, for Now

Submitted by Romesh Chander (United States), Oct 16, 2006 at 10:00

It is rather odd that Muslim taxi drivers only object to picking up passengers who carry alcohol. But then Islam also forbids picking up women (especially single women) by men, and especially in a public place like airport; they will be considered as prostitutes. Moreover, those women will have to be veiled. According to islamic customs, men are not to talk to women who are unrelated to them and especially getting money (even as fare) in public.

Why have those muslim taxi drivers NOT refused to pick up women passengers?. If they want to good muslims, then they will have to be good all the time, not only when it is convenient. Do I sense the usual hypocrisy of these muslims!
