War by Proxy

Reader comment on item: [The Need to Name and] Know Thy Terrorists

Submitted by David Steinberg (United States), Nov 22, 2002 at 00:53

These days it seems only President Bush is preparing to wage DIRECT war - against Saddam.
A much more cynical war is being waged on the western democracy which emanated from Saudi Arabia --
a proxy war using the resources of ordinary Muslim communities througout the world.
It is a war which started in the Wahhabist schools funded by Saudi money under the guise of assisting the masses of underprivileged Muslim children of the third world.

Today, many years later, it is difficult not to believe that the main purpose of these schools was originally to ensure the expansion of predatory militant islam throughout the world rather than to help the underprivileged.

The acts of horrific terrorism we have witnessed would never have been possible without this underlying virulent ideology .

The war that is being waged and that so many are now waking up to is one that is and will continue to use the wide base of well -intentioned moderate muslim communities as logistic cover and recruitment centres.

Can ideology be destroyed with physical weapons?

Did Nazi ideology die after WW2 or Stalinism with the death of Stalin ?

We must strongly call on the Islamic communities within our countries to put an end to this exterminationist brand of Islam and give them all the help they need to achieve this.

If they do not , they themselves will become the targets of their own extremists.
