Know ALL Thy Terrorists, not just two.

Reader comment on item: [The Need to Name and] Know Thy Terrorists

Submitted by Mr. M.S. Smith (United States), Nov 20, 2002 at 17:51

Statesmanship (as mentioned by a fellow commentarian) is a very good word to use in relation to the US's response to the two wars, that against militant Islam and Iraq. But it is clearly focused statesmanship that has itsef stuck its head in the sand on what may be more pressing and organized systems of Islamic terrorism, particularly that of Hezbollah. More action needs to be taken to prevent the funding and operational organizaion of this group before they make the actions of al Qaida look like child's-play.

And though we do not want to make Islam the enemy, I think it important to remember that within Islam there is no traditional support of democratic principles. In the end, here in the US we must NOT allow those who would dilute democracy the power to do so through our own democratic institutions.

I highly recommend everyone read Pipes' "Militant Islam Reaches America" -- it is an eyeopener in an incredible number of ways.
