AMERICA, IDENTIFY YOUR ENEMY!

Reader comment on item: [The Need to Name and] Know Thy Terrorists

Submitted by G.J.O. Moshay (United States), Nov 19, 2002 at 11:21

My problem is that most of those who comment on Islam know little or nothing about the religion.

America, or should I say, the American government, has not understood that the enemy is Islam, not 'militant Islam' and not Osama bin Ladin. This is hard for many people to accept. The reason for this is because we don't want to offend 'normal' or moderate Muslims. What we do not realize is that the motivation for the so-called militant muslims is the Koran. In the history of Islam, I do not know of a 'normal' Islam that is not militant. Is it the Islam as practiced by Mohammed himself that is moderate?

Study the life of Mohammed and tell me how this would be classified in today's Western society. Study the life of all his successors (the Khalifs) and tell me whether they belong to the so-called 'normal Islam' or "militant Islam'.

My point is this: Islam doesn't have to be described as militant or normal. The normal Islam is militant. A non-militant Islam is not normal. I have lived with Muslims for forty years. I have studied the Koran - reading it from cover to cover several times. I have read the Hadith (the Islamic Tradition, containing the words and the deeds of Mohammed and the Khalifs). I have read the history of Islam from the beginning of the religion to this present moment. And that is the only historical conclusion that can be drawn from all this.

I know there are many Muslims who are nice people. I have some as personal friends. But I know that if they are to obey their Koran very well, they would need to be militant by any means possible. The moment they come to that realisation through education, they change. That is the problem.

The only solution to the problem of terrorism is for Americans to identify their real enemy - the Islamic ideology motivating the terrorists. You cannot dislocate your enemy if you can't locate him. While, people should be allowed to practice their religion, yet everyone who enters America must be enforced to obey the American democratic culture. If it would mean some Muslims not being able to practice their faith, let them go to where they can practice it. A full expression of the Islam of the Koran in any Western society will always lead to crisis.

I have a book "Who is this Allah?" that may be of help. Publishers: Bishara Publications, PO Box 1448, Alief, TX, 77110.
