What can West show Palestinians?

Reader comment on item: [The Hamas Electoral Victory:] Democracy's Bitter Fruit

With all my respect to your work Dr. Pipes, I may disagree with your last thesis. What exacly Britain or France could have shown to Germans to indicate they made wrong choice in 1933? What exactly the West can show Palestinians now? Isolation and rejection can only enforce their nationalism - the factor they used to elect Hamas in the first place. Palestinians are used to blame everybody else but themselves for all their problems, what else can reverse their finger-pointing?

It took a BIG mistake made by german government to change Germany. It took the same BIG mistake for Japanese to learn their lesson. I don't wish Palestinians to make the same BIG mistake, because price of the lesson might be as high as the first two paid.

We all know that only stupid people learn from their own mistakes - smart people learn from mistakes made by others. Unfortunately, this part of the world does not seem to like foreign teachers and I am afraid, it will take another BIG mistake before Palestinians will raise their own.
