Reader comment on item: "Today Gaza, Tomorrow Jerusalem"

Submitted by Bhuvan Chaturvedi, India (India), Aug 16, 2005 at 12:35

The statement "no other democracy has forcibly uprooted thousands of its own citizens of one religion from their lawful homes" brought to my mind the plight of Kashmiri Hindus.

In 1990, more than 300,000 Kashmiri Hindus were chased out of Kashmir by Islamic terrorists (compared to 8,000 Jews being evacuated in Gaza), accompanied by widespread terror, plunder and loot. Many of these people still live in Refugee colonies in Delhi and Jammu (yes, refugees in their own country!). This ‘victory' has been followed by an almost daily dose of terrorist violence since this. And mind you, these Kashmiri Hindus were not ‘settlers', but had been living in Kashmir from centuries! As it is, no ‘Indian' is allowed to buy any property in Kashmir.
