Israel's tired supporters...

Reader comment on item: "Today Gaza, Tomorrow Jerusalem"

Submitted by Aaron (United States), Aug 12, 2005 at 03:05

For the last 15 years, Israel has made practically every wrong decision, taken every wrong turn. Only after a decade of declining security culminating in a full-blown terrorist war did Israel take a short break from the insanity and launch Operation Defensive Shield. Apparently the results were too good for Israeli politicians who decided to return to tried-and-true appeasement (the retreat is the undeniable result of Arab terrorism).

I'm proud to be Jewish, but there is nothing I can say or do that will give the Jewish people (particularly the Israeli variety) enough self-respect to view their own safety as an inalienable right.

If the Arabs win and Israel is destroyed, the blame will be squarely on the shoulders of the Israelis who couldn't muster the courage to fight for what is good in this world (namely, themselves). How can I mourn the destruction of a society, of a people, that, to paraphrase a child on Palestinian Authority Television, "foresaw their death and rushed towards it?"
