Let's not neglect the economic reasons behind withdrawal.

Although I agree with the essence of this article, I cannot ignore the main reason the mainly secular population of Israel support the planned withdrawal from the Gaza strip. The presence of Jewish colonies in Gaza and West Bank represent a heavy financial burden for Israeli taxpayer. Depending on the situation on site, the Israeli army's activity in Gaza, for the protection of Jewish enclaves, costs Israel between four and ten millions shekels a day. At the same time, I doubt that the existence of those colonies in Gaza had a role in mantaining the security of the state of Israel. I rather believe the opposite. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
