Humanity For AllReader comment on item: "Today Gaza, Tomorrow Jerusalem" Submitted by henricrun (Australia), Aug 12, 2005 at 05:01 The choice is either pull out and HOPE for a possible future for both or don't pull out and lose all HOPE for all.Neither the Gaza Strip nor the West Bank were a part of Israel when it was created in 1948. Whether these lands were ever given to the Jews by God or Neddy Nezer is totally irrelevant to this century or the last 50 years of the old century. The occupation of Gaza and the West Bank by Israel breeds murderous hatred, Islamic fanaticism and a deep contempt for the West in it's hypocricy towards a people who have suffered for almost 60 years. Give a people their own land, and especially their right for self-determination, and lets see what that difference makes. It's only natural that the Palestinians would expect the same withdrawal from the West Bank as proposed for the Gaza Strip. Isreal has no right to the West Bank as per the UN Resolution of 1948, neither does ancient history and Yawweh's gift override the reality of the violence it breeds throughout the world. Israel has the right to exist, but only in the borders defined by it's very creation. The Islamic absolutists can rant all they want, but give a Palestinian community/society a viable, functioning state and I would expect that the vast majority would prefer decency and progress rather than the AK47 and the suicide bomber. I have no optimism about the corrupt regime the Palestinian state may get, but that will be their problem, not anyone elses. If the jihad to Jerusalem continues from Gaza or the West Bank, build a 100 metre wall around the whole lot and let them stew in their own bile for centuries.
