Regarding Medina being a Jewish city

Reader comment on item: The Muslim Claim to Jerusalem
in response to reader comment: Medina was a Jewish city in the Holy Quaran and should be Jewish now!

Dear Dr Pipes,

Regarding reader Dan's correct assertion that Medina was a Jewish city prior to Muhammad's capture of it, luckily no one in our modern world is taking a pledge to throw Saudi Arabia into the sea. Didn't Iran once say that they wanted to throw Israel into the ocean?

I have nothing against Saudi Arabia but I have something against the duality of standards that we use to judge the Islamic world. All the liberals of our world will start turning in their graves if the non-Muslim world declares itself to be Christian/Hindu/Buddhist/Jewish etc until all Islamic theocracies are removed from this planet. Of course, there is no compulsion in religion and Muslims can live like dhimmi-equivalents in these lands and pay some occasional Jaziya-equivalent tax.
