An extremely simple issue to settle

Reader comment on item: The Muslim Claim to Jerusalem

Submitted by Michael S (United States), Jul 10, 2014 at 19:27

This is an extremely simple issue to settle. Here is a very good picture of the Temple Mount-Al Aqsa complex:

Note that the Al Aqsa Mosque, is at the right hand of the picture, SEPARATED from the Temple Mount area by a well-marked line. The area of the former Jewish Temple is not part of the Al Aqsa Mosque, and there is no reason why it should not come under FULL Jewish control, with NO MUSLIMS ALLOWED -- just as the Great Mosque in Mecca does NOT ALLOW JEWS.

The most compelling reason these two sites are NOT separated, is that the Jewish religious authorities have stood in the way. They claim that they are being extra-holy, by allowing the Gentiles to run roughshod over the holy places -- a position that I find hard to justify.

Daniel Pipes replies:

What about the fact that the Islamic Dome of the Rock sits on what most specialists believe was the Jewish Temple?
