Reader comment on item: The Muslim Claim to Jerusalem
in response to reader comment: The Muslims are Imperialist Colonialist Aggressors

The Muslims are Imperialist colonialists, having swarmed out of their homeland in Saudi Arabia and occupied the homelands of the neighboring peoples.

You are not telling me anything that I do not know yes the Arabs were imperialists so what and did you really understand what Dr. Pipes is saying?

Well I doubt vey much that you understood what I wrote but did you ever ask yourself why did the Umayyads the likes of Mu3awya establish his capital in Damascus and not Mecca and why did Abd al-Malik build the first Islamic monument in what was called Aelia at time (Jerusalem) and not in let us say Mecca? Could it be because those invading Arabs were really members of the tribes that lived in the Levant from time immemorial and this is why they were interested in building monumnts not in al-Hijaz but in Aelia/Jerusalem

You see MichaelS the study of history is about examining the extant evidence and trying to answer the question about what really happaned and it is not about emotions or wishful thinking
